At yesterday’s Super Bowl, the American Values Super PAC aired a $7 million ad for an extraordinary presidential candidate: Robert F. Kennedy (RFK) Jr., the son of former US senator Robert F. Kennedy and nephew of John F. Kennedy, whose 1960 campaign shot was an inspiration for the ad.

RFK Jr. is extraordinary because he belongs to the endangered species of politicians who speak the truth or even dare to admit when they don’t have the answer to a question.

This in itself seems like enough of a reason to seriously consider his independent campaign against the character- and integrity vacuum represented by the Republican and Democratic candidates.

You don’t have to agree with everything RFK Jr. is fighting for but he is primarily controversial because he is contrarian. And his contrarianism consists of not being willing to pander to the power of the military-, pharma-, and food- industrial complexes.

I have always asked myself why, in our generation there are no politicians to look up to as people. RFK Jr. is supplying hope that this era may be coming to an end.
