Quote of the week
“I try to see things through his eyes — to put myself into his mind. When he gets upset, I try to remember what it was like to be his age and relate at that level.” - Derek Sivers in a blog post about his son
This quote and Sivers’ whole post are a great reminder what it means to be a parent.
This morning I joined my daughter at nursery just for a few minutes to read a story to her and her toddler friends. The moment we were done she turned around to proceed with playing but I know that cultivating these small moments of true attention can make a big difference in her experience.
Being present is very challenging at times, so we can not remind ourselves frequently enough that it is one of the few things that really matters in life.
