Off the main drag

Today my cousin and I saw one of my favorite contemporary artists Leif Vollebekk live (no pun intended). It was a treat… a rare opportunity to listen to someone who is such an exceptional musician that he sounds even better live than in his recordings.
My favorite song of his, Off The Main Drag was not played. So I’m listening to it again as I write this and I invite you to do the same.
It’s American storytelling and folk music at its best, more like an incantation than a song. And a reminder that every once in a while: we may be better off of the main drag.
