Assange

--

Much has been written about Julian Assange’s release today. I have little to add other than: People like him, whether you dislike his egomania or the fact that he has contributed to damaging several US diplomatic ties, are as rare as as they are indispensable.

Our governments have become vastly overbearing. It’s the water we swim in without even being aware of the extent of the distortions and problems this is causing for our civilization.

True journalism as it was practiced by Assange provides some of the most critical checks and balances to this government overbearance. After how he was treated, it’s going to take one audacious bunch of imitators to continue his legacy.
